Whether you are the most adventurous outdoorsman or the slickest city slicker, there are certain things that no one should leave home without when they camping, even expert outdoorsman Bear Grylls. It doesn’t matter how many nights you are spending under the stars, these five basic camping items are must-haves for everyone.
Camping Gear Necessities: Technical Pack
Of the five basic things every camper needs, a good technical pack is arguably the most important. A lightweight and stable pack guarantees that all your gear is easily accessible at any time. A technical pack also insures that everything you need is protected from the elements. After all, nobody wants a broken flashlight or wet matches when they are out in the wilderness.
Camping Gear Necessities: Canteen
Fresh water is the ultimate camping necessity so it’s extremely important to have a reliable canteen on any camping trip, no matter how short. Keeping your water insulated from extreme temperatures and protecting this precious resource from leaking out is every camper’s goal so a good canteen should always be at the top of your camping equipment list.
Camping Gear Necessities: Pocket Knife
Multifunctional by design, a reliable pocket knife can be a lifesaver on a camping trip. Whether for cutting rope to hang a tarp, clipping branches from a path or opening packages of food, a pocket knife can have a million uses on a routine camping trip…and probably a million more in an emergency. For this reason, making sure you have a strong and sharp pocket knife is a necessity for any camper.
Camping Gear Necessities: Hiking Boots
No matter if you are an experienced camper or not, everyone agrees that one of the most important keys to any successful camping trip is the right hiking boots. Your hiking boots not only protect your feet against rough and rocky terrain, they can also protect you against poisonous plants, insects and snakes when you are walking through heavy brush. Hiking boots also can insure that your feet stay warm and dry no matter what the weather conditions may be.
Camping Gear Necessities: Jacket
It may seem obvious but many people still go camping without the proper jacket. Wet equals cold when it comes to camping so, your jacket needs to be warm and waterproof since even the summer months may bring afternoon showers or damp mornings. Staying warm and dry on a camping trip will guarantee that your time outdoors will be enjoyable rather than regrettable.
Even the most experienced campers don’t venture into the wilderness without these five basic camping items, so why should you?

If you want to combine your love of camping with your need for relaxation, try base camping. Base or car camping is a great way to enjoy some of the joys of camping without having to carry all your equipment with you. All you have to do is pack up your camping gear, find a scenic campsite, and enjoy the comforts of a home-away-from-home…

VERY IMPORTANT: At the top of the list should be a bug/tick repellant containing DEET 30+ % for the skin areas and a Permithrin spray for clothing. Please go to lymedisease.org for information on tick borne diseases and precautions to be taken.
The list is good but I would change one item- I carry a water filter bottle I got at http://www.hurricanecamping.com (vs a canteen). Reason is if you run out of water and need to refill, having the filter can get you bacteria & virus-free refills. Mine is a Sawyer and it was the best $35 I ever spent
I like reading information about Sports chalet. Are you sure about what you was writing? Best wishes, Thomas.
